Then I studied at the School of Visual Arts and the Arts Students League in NYC. Question: Where are you originally from? Daniel: I've always lived within an hour or two of NYC. Question: Where do you live now & what drew you there? Daniel: After 25 years in Manhattan, a few months ago I moved to our little lake house in Northern NJ. Question: Where is your studio & can you describe if for me? Daniel: It's a small room in the house with floor to ceiling glass on 3 sides. It's divided into computer and painting spaces, I also work outside. Question: Describe the view from your studio window. Daniel: It's a pretty nice view of the lake, about 10 ft away. There's a small forested area to the side, and gorgeous sunsets across the lake. Question: What are your interests outside of illustration? Daniel: I love music, pop culture, film, the news, kayaking, the ocean, landscape painting, history, American Civil War reenacting & backpacking.

But I'm not allowed to talk about it yet. Question: Who are your illustration heroes? Daniel: Tom Lovell, Howard Pyle, NC Wyeth, David Shannon, Matt Muhurin, Gary Larson, Norman Rockwell. Question: What advice would you give to someone wanting to get into illustration? Daniel: Learn how to make your illustrations MOVE! At least have some knowledge of animation. Question: Do you think anyone with Photoshop can be an illustrator these days? Daniel: I own an awesome surfboard but I can barely stand up on the thing. Question: What was the first record you bought? Daniel: I'm embarrassed to say that it was actually won from a radio contest....KISS ALIVE II, I was about 12 years old. Question: If you were not an illustrator, what would you be? Daniel: I've been studying voice acting for a while, that's been a passion for way too long. I'd also love to work for a charity, if I didn't have to make a living.
