Learning to draw and paint from her father, Jessine has been illustrating since she left high school.
Jessine loves it when her clients feed her imagination, and her first step is to focus on the brief. “Using empathy and paying close attention to the words chosen by my client help the image, with all its colours and composition, to form in my mind. It’s almost like remembering a dream, only that the visuals get stronger the more I think about them, not more blurry,” she explains.
Classic media like watercolours and oils have a timeless elegance for Jessine, but she’s equally adept working in software and an array of other media.
There’s a broad range of styles in Jessine’s portfolio, and she enjoys using new techniques and developing new looks. Watercolour, etching, classic comic book, vector graphics – she has an open mind and is willing to add to her repertoire. Jessine loves the idea of making an impact with a handful of strategically executed brush strokes, and inviting the viewer to fill in the blanks to mentally complete – and engage with – the image.
