After gathering information, she lets her mind wander and perhaps goes for a run before coming up with some concepts. Although she says her pencil is her most important tool, she does almost all her painting in Photoshop. The area of the body she’s painting and whether it’s internal or external will often influence the colour scheme.\r\n\r\n\u003Ch3>Styles\u003C\u002Fh3>\r\nAlex works in two main styles, depending on the intended audience. The first is light and sketchy, with the pencil drawing showing through for a hand-made feel. Her second style is darker and heavier. Alex imagines being a small spectator inside the body, like in the film The Fantastic Voyage, where the surroundings are like an alien landscape. Alex: Ich zeichne, seit ich sehr klein war und habe einfach nie aufgehört: Hast Du eine formelle Designausbildung? I started running a few years ago and am about a week away from my 8th marathon. I also take martial arts with my daughter. I won't spar with her. She's 12, bigger than me and has a mean punch.\r\nTell us about a favourite project you've recently completed. \r\nI do a monthly cover illustration for an OB\u002FGYN magazine and loved last month's cover on abnormal placentation.
