In addition to our main business of placing illustrators with professional advertisers and editors, we
frequently receive inquiries from private individuals who are quite unfamiliar with the illustration market.
This guide is intended for you when it comes to commissioning illustrations for a self-written book or
similar, private inquiries.
Generally speaking, the illustrators we represent have a daily rate of around € 650 to € 800 plus VAT, this
varies depending on the complexity of the style and task. In addition, there are usually surcharges for the
type of usage (e.g. print, web), duration of use, distribution and in in rare cases also for the purchase of
the original. Each artist works differently, so we can’t give a general indication of how long it takes to
create an illustration. Some styles can be done very quickly and so several illustrations can be created in
one day. More elaborate designs can take several days to complete. The level of detail and the complexity
of a project of course gives an idea of how elaborate an illustration is. However, a creative process always
includes variables that one must take into account (coordination times, corrections or changes in the
briefing) You can help us by answering the following questions to estimate the cost of your project and
make it possible for us to write you a quote:

We represent a large number of national and international artists who all show a detailed portfolio on our website.
Feel free to contact us so that we can quickly and competently recommend the right illustrator for your
project. If you have a little more time, you are of course also welcome to review the portfolios and browse
through the style galleries on our website and let us know your favorites or gather some images in a
lightbox and send it to us. In order to give you an immediate cost estimate of your project and being able
to write you an offer we kindly ask you to answer the following questions.
Once the decision has been made in favor of an illustrator and the job can begin, we provide the direct
contact between you and the illustrator so that you can talk about the detailed briefing and
communicate with the illustrator during the ongoing work process. You will receive a written order
confirmation from us, which includes all important key points.
The illustrator sends a first sketch or first version of the illustration for approval. At this point, you can
discuss any changes (according to the original briefing) that you would like the illustrator to make.
Corrections to the final version that were visible in the design phase or deviate from the original briefing
will mean additional work that will be charged according to time and effort. This will of course be
communicated in advance.
You will first receive the finished illustration as a .jpeg for approval. After this has taken place, you will
receive the high-resolution data of the illustration.
