Pop
When advertisement became advertisement.
Pop Art artists like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein created a now established style with high recognition value and legends from popular and commercial elements. What was once a rebellion against abstract impressionism and an alienation from advertising is now ironically a popular advertising medium. A Pop Art portrait of neon colors and graphic surfaces was perceived as "modern" as early as the '60s, and this sense of style has continued into today's zeitgeist. In illustration, pop is a broad term that covers not only screen prints and oversized comic figures, but also doodle art, striking typography and casual lifestyle illustration.
