Flourishing with an impressive array of prestigious clients from across the globe, Chris Ede excels under the pressure of high profile projects, on a daily basis. Chris Ede has carefully developed, over a 7 year period in the business, a multitude of styles, tailored for specific areas within the industry; advertising, editorial, book and music. These styles will be further tuned in accordance with the client and the specified brief. Chris’ recent push into the male sport market has been a huge success, creating spectacular projects for the likes of NFL, Olympics 2012, Sports Illustrated,Volkswagen, Ford and Axe/Lynx. This illustrator always delivers the goods on time, with a clear and precise objective. Chris prides himself on his flexible and speedy working process, whilst always maintaining quality. His work ethic is second to none, in order to meet that all-important looming deadline/pitch.

This has been an exciting year for you. What’s been the best bit? Chris: The best part of this year so far has been starting up new collective ‘Coloured-In’. We now boast 9 illustrators with an array of talent. http://www.colouredin.com What drew you to illustration/design? Chris: I have always been fascinated and driven by art since I can remember. I worked in a comic shop from the age of 12-16 and hanged out with the now famous comic artist Ian Churchill. I would watch with amazement, whilst he worked on the latest x-men comic, every carefully considered stroke made with his 4H pencil. Ian would let me make a few marks here and there. Do you have any formal design training? Chris: Yes I finished my BA HONS degree in Illustration with a 1ST at the University of Portsmouth. Do you keep a scrapbook? Chris: Yes I keep scrapbooks of illustrations, fonts, photographs and anything interesting or unusual I come across. A great life saver when you run out of ideas and confidence. What is the first record you bought? Chris: MC Hammer ‘U Can't Touch This’, oh yes the man in those fabulous baggy pants. Tell us about a favourite project you’ve recently completed. Chris: I recently played an instrumental role in helping agency client Skaramoosh win their pitch to create the 1 minute animation for the 2012 Olympics hand over ceremony. I created all storyboards, mood-boards and illustrations for the pitch, created elements for the final animation and played a major role in the original concepts. What would be your dream job/commission? Chris: To re-create the covers to Penguin’s classic novels. What is/are your art hero/es? Chris: I love the drip of Robert Rauschenburg, the texture of Tapies, the humour of Ralph Steadman and the mind of Mark Quinn. If you were not an illustrator, what would you be? Chris: I would like to think an electro keyboard genius but I was never ever any good at music. What do you have bookmarked? Chris: AOI, Computer Love, Ffffound, Thunder Chunky, Clickforart.
